Rest
that’s what they say
a day set aside
BAM. BAM. BAM.
If only the thoughts would stop their fire
I shift my weight
I smile
I look forward
BAM. BAM. BAM.
Eyes closed.
Breathe.
I stand
I sing
I sit
I listen
BAM. BAM. BAM.
BAM. BAM. BAM.
I…
BAM. BAM. BAM.
BAM. BAM. BAM.
BAM. BAM. BAM.
BAM. BAM. BAM.
Breathe.
I stand
I sing
I smile
I leave

This is another #OCDPoem, a glimpse inside my brain on a typical Sunday.
OCD is a horrible condition. This is a very powerful description. I also thought the bam bam bam might be a beating heart. Thank you for sharing this. ♥️
I suppose it could be the heart beating too. They can go hand in hand sometimes. Thanks for reading.
I imagined sitting in Church as the platitudes hammered on; nice flow and feel to this.
Thoughts can disrupt one’s rest. I usually repeat a short phrase that I value to keep those other thoughts in line.
Even without OCD I understand the challenge of unwinding and rest… those heartbeats I could really feel in my body.
Thoughts and feelings colliding, powerful poetry form.
Thank you.
you are welcome
